Hibachi at Home: Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your private hibachi chef.

How much does hibachi catering at home cost?

Adults start at $50 per person and children 12 & under at $25 per person, with a $500 minimum per event. Every guest gets salad, fried rice, hibachi vegetables and two proteins. Upgrades, side orders and sushi platters are extra. Prices may vary by location — your final invoice is based on your final guest count.

How do I book a hibachi chef?

Use our online booking form to pick your date, time, guest count and menu, or call or text us at (929) 846-8296. You will receive a confirmation by text and email with all the details.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

No upfront deposit is required. We send a detailed invoice based on your final guest count, and you pay after the service.

What is included in the standard package?

Japanese salad, signature fried rice, fresh hibachi vegetables, two proteins per person, complimentary sake for guests 21+, the live cooking performance, and all cooking equipment — the grill, propane and food.

Do you cook indoors or outdoors?

Our chefs cook outdoors on a propane flat-top grill — backyards, patios, decks, driveways, pool areas and beach houses. Tell us your setup when you book so we can plan for it.

What happens if it rains?

Rain or shine — as long as there is a covered area for the chef, such as a garage, awning, tent or covered patio, the show goes on.

What do I need to prepare?

Tables, chairs and place settings for your guests (plates, utensils and cups). The chef brings the grill, propane, food and everything needed to cook. A flat area about 10 × 10 feet for the grill station works well.

When does the chef arrive?

Your chef arrives shortly before the scheduled start time to set up the grill, then cooks and performs in front of your guests. We confirm the exact arrival window with your booking.

What is the minimum number of guests?

There is no strict headcount minimum, but every event has a $500 food minimum — roughly 10 adults. Smaller parties are welcome and are simply billed at the minimum. Sushi platters do not count toward the minimum.

Where do you serve? Is there a travel fee?

We serve New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Prices may vary by location; any location-based fees are confirmed with your quote before your date is locked in.

Can you handle allergies, vegetarian or gluten-free guests?

Yes — let us know about nut, sesame, shellfish or other allergies and dietary needs when you book. Vegetables and tofu are available as protein choices for vegetarian guests.

How far in advance should I book?

As early as possible — weekends, holidays and summer dates fill up first. Two to three weeks ahead is ideal, but reach out even for last-minute dates.

What is your cancellation policy?

Plans change — contact us as early as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule, and we will confirm the policy that applies to your date when you book.
